基金会现场总线FF于2000年发布Ethernet规范，称HSE(High Speed Ethernet)。HSE是以太网协议IEEE802.3，TCP/IP协议族与FFIll的结合体。FF现场总线基金会明确将HSE定位于实现控制网 络与Internet的集成。
HSE技术的一个核心部分就是链接设备，它是HSE体系结构将Hl(31.25kb/s)设备连接 100Mb/s的HSE主干网的关键组成部分，同时也具有网桥和网关的功能。网桥功能能够用于连接多个H1总线网段，使同H1网段上的H1设备之间能够进 行对等通信而无需主机系统的干涉;
网关功能允许将HSE网络连接到其他的工厂控制网络和信息网络，HSE链接设备不需要为H1子系统作报文解释，而是将来自H1总线网段的报文数据集合起来并且将Hl地址转化为IP地址。
